Here is my summary of the Friday, January 2nd, 2026 regular meeting of Allegheny County Council. My votes are in parentheses, as is the prime sponsor of each item. All 15 members were present.
I want to wish a huge congratulations to Kathleen Madonna-Emmerling, Lissa Geiger Shulman, and Aaron Adams on being sworn in as our three new members of council! Congratulations as well to Councilmembers Catena, Naccarati-Chapkis, and Palmosina on their reelections!
After the swearing in of all members, Councilman Catena was unanimously reelected as Council President.
13788-26 (Hallam – Yes) This motion directs Council’s solicitor to evaluate the merits of filing an amicus brief in the matter of Allegheny County Prison Employees Independent Union v. Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board.
