Here is my summary of the Tuesday, January 28th, 2025 regular meeting of Allegheny County Council. My votes are in parentheses, as is the prime sponsor of each item. 11 members present (Bonaroti, Klein, and Prizio absent).
This was the first meeting since Councilman DeMarco stepped down, so currently there are 14 members of council. DeMarco also received a proclamation for his service to the County at this meeting. Among other proclamations was one given to District 5’s own Jon Delano to celebrate 30 years at KDKA (as well as Jon’s partial retirement).
13382-25 (Executive – Public Safety) This ordinance would authorize the acceptance of a donation of two horses for the County Police’s Mounted Unit. Sent to the Committee on Public Safety.
13383-25 (Executive – Parks) This ordinance would authorize the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh to continue to use property in Deer Lakes Park. Sent to the Committee on Parks.
13384-25 (Executive – Parks) This ordinance would authorize Family Links to continue to use property in Boyce Park to provide human services related programs. Sent to the Committee on Parks.
13385-25 (Executive – Parks) This ordinance would authorize the North Hills Council of Governments to continue to use property in North Park as a leaf compost for nearby communities. Sent to the Committee on Parks.
