Here is my summary of the Tuesday, April 9th, 2024 regular meeting of Allegheny County Council. My votes are in parentheses. 12 members were present with Bonaroti, Catena, and Macey absent.
This ordinance would direct the Department of Economic Development and the Department of Public Works to create a complete streets plan. This was sent back to Committee on Economic Development & Job Creation. After the initial passage of this ordinance out of committee, the departments of Public Works and Economic Development and Job Creation reached out to Councilwoman Naccarati-Chapkis and I to collaborate further prior to its passage. I greatly appreciate the work they have already begun doing on multi-modal transportation throughout the county, and together I believe we will be able to create an even better complete streets policy. If you’re unfamiliar with complete streets, you can read more about the concept here: https://smartgrowthamerica.org/what-are-complete-streets/
12979-24 (Yes)
This resolution would create a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district for the Waterfront Apartments. A TIF has already been created by both municipalities and the school district. Ordinance passed unanimously.
