Here is my summary of the Tuesday, July 1st, 2025 regular meeting of Allegheny County Council. My votes are in parentheses, as is the prime sponsor of each item. All 12 members present (Klein, Palmiere, Walton absent).
13580-25 (Chief Executive – Yes) This resolution would allow for a new Integrative Health Science building at Duquesne to be financed by the Allegheny County Higher Education Building Authority. Passed 12-0.
13560-25 (Chief Executive – Yes) This ordinance would authorize the County to acquire a parcel of land in Wilkins Township to provide additional lateral support for Greensburg Pike Road. Passed 12-0.
13593-25 (Chief Executive – Economic Development & Job Creation) This ordinance would allow for the use of County property for the filming of the show Parallax, which will be premiering on AppleTV+. Sent to committee on economic development & job creation.
13594-25 (Grzybek – Held) This motion would pull bill 13470-25 from committee for a final vote, which is my term limit bill. After discussions with several of my colleagues, I made the motion to table the bill to give members more time to think it over prior to next week’s meeting. The motion passed 11-1 (Betkowski no).
