Here is my summary of the Tuesday, September 24th 2024 regular meeting of Allegheny County Council. My votes are in parentheses, as is the prime sponsor. All 15 members were present.
There were a number of appointments to the Children, Youth, and Families Advisory Board as well as the Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council, all of which passed. Among the proclamations presented included one for Allegheny County Parks Director, honoring him for his years of service to the county and a well deserved retirement.
13151-24 (Futules – Yes) This ordinance would provide fire safety information surrounding spontaneous combustion from the ACHD to restaurant owners in the course of regular restaurant inspections. Passed 14-1 with Walton as the lone No.
13157-24 (Chief Executive – Yes) This ordinance amends Article VI of ACHD rules and regulations to create a housing advisory committee. Passed unanimously.
13226-24 (County Executive – Public Works) This ordinance authorizes the county to acquire by condemnation a right-of-way in Forward Township at Roberts Hollow Road and Warren Hill Road.
13227-24 (County Executive – Public Works) This ordinance authorizes the county to acquire by condemnation a right-of-way in Wilkins Township for the Greensburg Pike Lateral Support Project.
13228-24 (County Executive – Health & Human Services) This ordinance alters the fees and penalties associated with asbestos abatement.
13229-24 (County Executive – Health & Human Services) This ordinance increases the permitting fees associated with air permitting within Allegheny County.
13230-24 (County Executive – Economic Development & Job Creation) This ordinance provides a LERTA in a currently deteriorated block of Clairton.
13231-24 (County Executive – Economic Development & Job Creation) This ordinance provides a LERTA in a currently deteriorated block of Brentwood.
13232-24 (Hallam – Yes) This motion honors the life of Christian Hall and urges the PA Senate to pass bill 1305 and PA House to pass HB2533 recognizing the importance of access to culturally
competent mental health resources. Passed 14-1 with Walton as the No.
We will have our next meeting tomorrow, October 8th at 5pm in the Gold Room, where the County Executive will introduce her 2025 budget.
