Regular Meeting – 9/24/2025

Here is my summary of the Tuesday, September 24th, 2025 regular meeting of Allegheny County Council. My votes are in parentheses, as is the prime sponsor of each item. 14 members present (Botta absent).

Our voting items began with approving the appointment of members to the Allegheny County Government Review Commission, which is established every ten years to study and provide recommendations on the Home Rule Charter and county government. Passed 13-1 (Hallam no).

13634-25 (Chief Executive – Yes) This ordinance would authorize South Park Boxing, Inc. to continue to use property on Hundred Acres Drive in South Park. Passed unanimously.

13654-25 (Chief Executive – Yes) This ordinance allows for the continued use of a building in Boyce Park by the Western PA Police Athletic League for boxing and fitness activities. Passed unanimously.

13667-25 (Chief Executive – Public Safety) This ordinance would authorize the County to accept a donation of a Chlorine Training Housing from Westlake Corporation and a Decontamination Trailer from the Department of Veterans Affairs. Sent to Committee on Public Safety.

13668-25 (Chief Executive – Public Works) This ordinance would give Public Works the authority to take actions on issuance of temporary occupancy permits, highway occupancy permits, the grant of certain licenses, rights of entry/easements, and acquisition of certain real estate for 2026 and 2027. Sent to Committee on Public Works.

13669-25 (Citizens of Allegheny County – Public Safety) This ordinance would amend the county code to allow for the use of leg shackles by Allegheny County Jail staff on hospital runs. Sent to Committee on Public Safety.

13670-25 (Chief Executive – Budget and Finance) This resolution would ratify certain year-end budgetary transfers. Sent to Committee on Budget and Finance.

13671-25 (Chief Executive – Budget and Finance) This resolution would amend the Grants and Special Accounts budget for 2025. Sent to Committee on Budget and Finance.
